Did you know there is a Toastmaster in my area that has a tail? His name is Farley and he is a service dog that belongs to Bernie. I met up with Farley and Bernie in the rotunda of the Natural Resources Building who directed me to the meeting room. It was nice to meet Farley in person, because I heard a lot about this dog in Bernie’s tall tales. We were greeted by Lee who was setting up the room. The club is very”green” the basic outline of the agenda is on a laminated poster board that is held up by magnets on a whiteboard and role players are written on the board with dry-erase marker. Very innovative idea! We had two wonderful speeches given by Leslie and Linden. Leslie’s speech was a tribute to her father-in-law who recently passed away; he had a very full and eventful life. I found out that her father-in law fought on Okinawa. I lived on Okinawa for four years and I can understand and appreciate the struggles and sacrifices her father-in-law and others made on that island. I learned about the importance of flexibility for good health from Linden. Did you know that stretching for 30 minutes a day have enormous health benefits? Besides myself there were two other guests at a well organized and well attended meeting. I had the opportunity to meet with Jeff and some of the incoming officers and I was invited to come back next week to install the new team. I accepted. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed my visit and I will be back next week to induct the new officers.
