PhD Speakers Club Visit - 7/06/2011

I had the opportunity to visit our division’s only advanced Toastmaster club, PhD Speakers. I was warmly greeted by the Dave the president and Cindy the VPM. We had a full agenda with three speakers. What is unique about the advanced clubs is that you get four evaluations for your speeches. You get the traditional manual evaluation but also a verbal, visual, and content evaluations. I experienced this first had when I spoke about “opportunity” and the feedback was wonderful and on point and I didn't felt intimidated. Kate spoke about that “head” thing which was very enjoyable and Melanie practiced her speech that she will give at the semifinal round in the Toastmaster "International" speech contest in Las Vegas. I had such a wonderful time at the meeting. I decided to join PhD speakers that night. Increasing the membership of this club is one of my main goals this year as area governor. I encourage all advanced Toastmasters in the area to support this club.
