Comquest Club Visit -7/05/2011

I had the privilege to visit Comquest Toastmaster club this past Tuesday. If you never been to this club before it’s “the club where you get a taste of the world without leaving your chair.” It’s true! This club at its core is to help non –native English speakers to be more fluent in English and improve their speaking skills. I was warmly greeted by Teri Hotsko and Olga Peterman. The club stepped up to fill the timer role (Thanks Cindy!) and the meeting was guided effectively by Lucas Doelman. Teri had a presentation on asserting yourself effectively from the Advanced Manual- “Interpersonal Communication”. I need to check out the manual for myself. I enjoyed the role play between Teri and Cindy, it was entertaining and I truly learned something new. As a result of this speech Teri completed the requirements for her Advanced Communicator Bronze Award. Way to go Teri! We had a patriotic themed table topics panel which I won. We had one guest besides me, his name was Matt White and he found the club by googling Toastmasters. Impressive! The club exchanged information with him and I hope that he will come back again to the club for another visit or to join. Afterwards I met with the Cathy English and made plans for my next visit (September 6, 2001) which I will make a speech. Overall I had a wonderful time!
